1970년대부터 80년대까지 한국의 기독교가 급속하게 성장한 사실에 대해 서구의 기독교인들이 한국기독교역사에 대해 많은 관심으로 가지고 있다. 하지만 그동안 외국인들에게 이와 같은 한국교회사를 알릴 만한 적절한 영문으로 된 한국기독교에 대한 역사책이 없어서 아쉬움이 컸다. 이번에 한국기독교역사연구소에서는 이러한 독자들의 요구에 발맞추어 해방 이후 한국기독교사(A History of Christianity in Korea since 1945)을 발간하였다. 이 책은 일찍이 발행한 한국기독교의 역사Ⅰ-Ⅲ권 가운데 해방 이후 편인 한국기독교의 역사Ⅲ 권을 목원대 명예교수인 문정일 교수가 번역한 것이다. 특히 미국인 애덤스(Daniel J. Adams, 한국명 하달리) 전 한일장신대 교수께서 윤문을 맡아주었다.
이 책이 한국교회에 관심있는 서구인들에게 한국 현대 기독교사를 이해하는데 큰 도움을 줄 수 있으리라 기대한다.
