저자 김영석(Yung Suk Kim)은 맥코믹 신학대학원(McCormick Theological Seminary)에서 석사학위를 받았고, 밴더빌트 대학(Vanderbilt University)에서 박사학위를 받았다. 현재 버지니아유니온 대학(Virginia Union University)의 교수로 신약성서와 초기 기독교 역사를 가르치고 있다. Journal of Bible and Human Transformation과 Journal of Race, Ethnicity, and Religion의 편집자이기도 하다. 저서로 Christ’s Body in Corinth: The Politics of a Metaphor(Fortress Press), Biblical Interpretation: Theory, Process, and Criteria(Pickwick Publications), A Transformative Reading of the Bible: Explorations of Holistic Human Transformation(Cascade Books), Truth, Testimony, and Transformation: A New Reading of the “I Am” Sayings of Jesus in the Fourth Gospel(Cascade Books) 등이 있고, 2013 년에는 김진호 실장(제3시대그리스도교연구소)과 함께 민중신학을 영미권에 소개하는 Reading Minjung Theology in the Twenty-First Century: Selected Writings by Ahn ByungMu and Modern Critical Responses(Pickwick Publications)를 편집 번역하여 펴내기도 하였다.
