저자 크리스토퍼 터킷 박사는 1979년-1991년까지 맨체스터(Manchester) 대학교 조교수(Lecturer)로, 1991년-1996년까지는 동 대학에서 라일랜드 교수(Ryland Professor of Biblical Criticism and Exegesis)로서 봉직하였다. 그 후 2001년 옥스퍼드(Oxford) 대학교로 자리를 옮겨, 1996년-2001년까지는 조교수로 재직하다가 2001년에 정교수가 되어, 현재는 펨브로우크 칼리지(Pembroke College)에서 Fellow 및 Tutor로서 활동하며, 신약성경 및 신학을 가르치고 있다. 세계 신약학회의 정회원이기도 하다.
