안식교의 역사신학자로서 안식일과 재림 신학에 관한 세계적인 권위자다. 영국의 뉴볼드 대학교(Newbold College)에서 신학으로 학사(BA)를, 미국 미시건의 앤드류스 대학교(Andrews University)에서 문학석사(MA)와 목회학학사(B.Div.)를 받았다. 비가톨릭교인으로서 최초로 로마에 있는 교황청 그레고리대학교(Pontifical Gregorian University)에서 수학하고 신학박사 학위를 받고, 1974년부터 은퇴(2000년)하기까지 앤드류스 대학교의 종교학과에서 신학과 교회사를 가르쳤다.
본서 외에 안식일에 관한 책으로, Divine Rest for Human Restlessness: A Theological Study of the Good News of the Sabbath for Today; The Sabbath in the New Testament: Answers to Questions; The Sabbath Under Crossfire: A Biblical analysis of Recent Sabbath/Sunday Developments 외에, 기독교 역사와 문화에 관한 다양한 저술을 남겼다.
