케임브리지대학교(University of Cambridge)에서 박사 학위를 취득한 피터 윌리엄스는 동대학교와 아버딘대학교(University of Aberdeen)에서 근동학과 신약학을 가르쳤다. 현재는 틴데일 하우스(Tyndale House)의 관장이자 국제그리스어신약프로젝트(International Greek New Testament Project)의 의장이다. 대표 저작으로, Early Syriac Translation Technique and the Textual Criticism of the Greek Gospels (Texts and Studies; Gorgias Press, 2004)와 Studies in the Syntax of the Peshitta of 1 Kings (Monographs of the Peshitta Institute, Leiden 12; Leiden: E.J. Brill, 2001)이 있다.
